The Tsimtsum is a Japanese built Panamanian cargo ship that the Patel family planned to sail to Winnipeg on. The cargo ship, carrying some of the zoo animals, the Japanese officers, the Taiwanese crew, and the Patel family, set sail from Madras on June 21, 1977 and sunk in the Pacific Ocean on July 2.

The Tsimtsum was built in Japan in 1948. It became a cargo ship registered in Panama. The Tsimtsum started its journey in Madras, India and headed east. Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean the ship sank.
